Client Review: Video Production for National Education Organization

Industry: Education, 1,001-5,000 Employees
Budget: $50,000-$199,999

Froth & Fur created a brand film plus three TV/cable and social media commercials, filmed in Los Angeles and San Diego for this national education organization.

Background

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Chief Marketing Officer for a large national education organization.

Opportunity/Challenge

For what projects/services did your company hire PluckStudio, and what were your goals?

We were in need of a new company brand video to be used as a showpiece in discussions with potential future business partners.

Solution

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We first narrowed our search to the Los Angeles area due to a high concentration of 'showcase' customers. After a fun 'Google search and review' of countless creative agency online portfolios, we narrowed our search to three.

Patrick (an owner) impressed us with his immediately fun/lighthearted demeanor, expertise on the latest video production techniques/technologies, and ability to toss around big ideas and visions in real-time during the first chat. What sealed the deal for us was an interview we found with Patrick in an LA magazine/website that showed him as a real person who didn't 'fall in line' with the boring corporate world.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We have a unique creative process in our organization and it was important to us that Patrick felt comfortable. What's our secret? Finding people who are whip-smart and organized enough to buck 'intake forms', 'discovery meeting forms', 'creative brief templates', and work as a human being.

Patrick exceeded our expectations and organically fit right into our flow for Visioning, Storyboarding, Scheduling, Scriptwriting, Interviewing, Day-Of-Shoot Planning, Production, and Post. Super efficient, super easy to work with, and was willing to work within our fun team culture.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked directly with Patrick - members of my team included our Senior Director of Brand, Senior Graphic Designer, Project Manager, and Marketing Specialist.

Patrick fit right into the team's process and made himself available to us like he was a full-time hire (of course, we worked with Patrick based on his preferred availability, schedule, and hours - but he sure did feel full-time because he was so committed!). We collaborated on a private Slack channel as well as a Zoom when we needed a deeper discussion. The process never missed a beat!

Results & Feedback

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have received nothing but exuberant feedback from all stakeholder - from our CEO to potential business partners who have been "blown away". I'm writing this review only one week after the project was completed and I can already say it's been worth it. This video will provide value to us for years to come (that is high praise considering the speed at which these types of videos usually lose relevancy). Kudos, Pluck!

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

In our first meeting, Patrick made it clear that he would work with us in a way that fit our project management framework. He immediately connected with our marketing project manager and seamlessly fit right into her process/schedule/workflow. They were so much on the same page that our team only had to check with our project manager to ensure things were on track.

The highest praise I can give Patrick is that I never actually knew his project management process because he did such a great job working within ours. His team included a huge array of experts - producers, assistant directors, camera/grip/sound/etc., engineers, and assistants. He got us top-tier talent on his crew and they did a phenomenal job working with my team. Everyone shared Patrick's professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the entire project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was most impressed with Patrick's ability and confidence in just being himself. I have worked with so many creative agencies throughout my career and Pluck was the first that didn't 'seem like all the rest'.

There was no "A team in the pitch then B team for the project", there was no arrogance or conceit in visioning, there were no hidden fees or miscalculated charges. Patrick was up front and clear about the entire project every step of the way. He's the rare leader who didn't 'sell out' to fit the expectations of the masses.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As cliche as this may sound, I cannot think of a single thing I would want to have gone differently. This project will produce for us significant ROI in both the short and long term.
